Simon Peat
One of the longest serving players the club has had, Si played for 25 years (yep, you get less for murder) joining the club after graduating from Royal Holloway in 1996. He finished in true style in late 2021, scoring in his final game and picking a fight with one of his own teammates at half time.
Although he (apparently) calmed a bit with old age, he was labelled by one of his team mates as ‘Red Mist Man’ after repeatedly losing his rag when kicked off the ball or someone calling his mum a slapper. The one word that summed Si up was passion.
He held virtually every position in the club, experiencing the joys of the league AGM, pissing players off with his tactical tinkering while captain, or allowing the squad to freeze to death while trying to explain a training drill in his time as club coach.
Taker of one of the worst penalties ever seen in a cup final in season 2001/2, Simon was described on an opposition scouting report as a “40-year old defender”, a description that irritated him as in reality he was much older. As an occasional fill in he was also officially the shortest goalkeeper ever to play senior football.
In recognition of his long suffering service, Si was elected as an honorary vice-president of the club in 2022.
