Luke Thomas

Luke had two spells at the club, returning after having originally forced to stop playing for the Old Boys as the commute from his new home in Dublin seemed a little too much every weekend. A highly respected, senior employee at work, Luke is anything but at the Old Boys.

Nicknamed “Binner” for his inability to iron a shirt or dress himself properly, everyone wanted to be on his team in training – nothing to do with his footballing ability, they simply want to avoid injury from his hatchet-man tackles.

A no-nonsense, cliched “old-style” player, Luke was happy to hammer the ball into touch or drag someone back by their shirt rather than give the ball away, and always claimed a foul throw at least twenty times per game. His other favourite call of “back door son!” worried team-mates and opponents alike, and the only thing more scary than his tackling was the thought of him becoming a Dad, which meant a second retirement from the Old Boys ranks.
